Volunteering at the WWF Turtle Management Centre in Melaka
by Carol Ng

On the 22nd, we were divided into two groups, of which the girls cleaned out excessive dust from the egg incubation room while the guys set up the nettings for the outdoor egg incubation area in order to create a cooler shade for the eggs. The process took about an hour or so.

On the 23rd, we were divided into two groups again to help clean out the WWF field house. Half of us helped to remove and remove and discard the weeds from the fences, while the other half cleaned the sink cabinets and kitchen floor. The process also took about an hour or so.

On both days, we finished our work faster than anticipated, without any problems. We were left with plenty of time to relax and take lots of pictures of the lovely sunset by the beach. :D

During our visit to the Turtle Management Centre, we learned a bit about the different species of turtles found in Malaysia, and also how they collect the turtle eggs and incubate them under a shaded area as well as in an incubation room.

Cleaning up!
